Long hair, long dress

Dress: Buffalo Exchange * Cardi: Old Navy, Swapped * Shoes: UO *
Belt: J. Crew * Necklace: Cocoquette via Cliche

So ever since Jane on Happy Endings debuted bold, thick stripes with taupe as the alternate color (examples 1, 2, 3), I’ve been coveting the look for myself. So when I found this dress at Buffalo Exchange in Minneapolis I scooped it up like ain’t no thang. Which is wasn’t. Because it was a steal! Yesssss. Now I just need to find a shirt, too–anyone know where I can get one which is not $243?

Lover of yellow

Top: Target
Shorts and necklace: Thrifted
Shoes and belt: J. Crew
Bag: Orla Kiely

Maybe you couldn’t tell, but I’ve been on vacation this week. Not just a blogging vacation, mind you, but a real, live STAYcation in which I’m sleeping in, doing lots of yoga, reading, and cooking. Well, maybe not so much the cooking. Anyway, I have lots of outfits stored up to share with you all, but I’m not sure how quickly they’ll be shared–vacation does last through Labor Day, after all! But never fear, I’ll be dropping by now and again with an outfit post.

This outfit will go into my “favorites” pile. Very quickly are items being slotted into the “I LOVE THEM” or the “I’m going to toss them” categories, and these shorts paired with a button-up blouse is a surefire winner. Add some of my signature yellow (can you tell yet that I love yellow?) and my prized Orla Kiely bag (one of the few truly designer items I own), and I’m in love.

Today’s lesson learned: Never apologize for a well-earned vacation. And I won’t! 🙂

summer scallops

Dress: a gift, two years ago
Boots: Shoegasm, NYC
Bag: Thrifted
Glasses: Warby Parker Sinclair

And it begins with summer scallops! This dress is one of my go-to favorites, always so pretty and so easy. One hour before taking this picture, I was mowing the lawn. But don’t I look so breezy in these photos? It’s all thanks to the dress, my friends.

The scallops are also thanks to some inspiration from The Other Emily‘s scallop shorts. I desperately want to make a pair, but wasn’t able to in time for my and Mandi‘s 30 day challenge–and who knows how warm Minnesota will be once these 30 days are up? So the shorts may have to wait until next year–but until then, at least I still have the dress!

And finally, still jonesing on my big decision, I decided to wear my glasses one last time before sending this (sample) pair back to Warby Parker. The new (prescription) pair should arrive in about ten days!

PS – Don’t you just love dresses with pockets?!
