Red flowered tank: J. Crew
Black and white striped tank: Thrifted
Boots: Corso Como
Flats: J. Crew
There are certain pieces that we wear over and over and over again, and these shorts have become my go-to comfortable weekend wear, just cycling different tees and tanks in and out of rotation. Maybe I’m getting lazy, but certain pieces have found their ways to the back of my closet, and others (like these shorts) have been resurfacing much more frequently in this 30 for 30 challenge.
So this is a doubled-up post, with two similar outfits that I wore pretty much back-to-back last week when I was on vacation. There are even a few more coming down the pike with these shorts, but I’ll share them with you in a more measured way. 🙂
Curious about past ways I’ve worn these shorts? See one, two, and three.
Flats: J. Crew
Scarf: Borrowed from Mandi
Last Friday, immediately after posting this outfit, I changed into shorts and in a mere matter of hours, was in the middle of Minnesota wilderness! Alright, perhaps not wilderness, but as I, Mandi, and Erin hiked through the forest (I changed shoes), we certainly broke a sweat, swatted mosquitos, and cooked not one but TWO full meals over the campfire. Friends, this is roughing it. Erin even got attacked by a wild parsnip!!!!
I “forgot” to bring my camera (which is why I am posing NOT in front of a tent) and I think it was for the best. I may be willing to share with you folks what I wear every day, but it’s going to be on my terms, dammit! So although you will see the outfit in which I went camping, you will not see me sweaty, dirty, itchy, and generally shower-less. Once we are friends, we can go camping together, but only if you promise not to bring a camera.
Today’s lesson learned: For those of you interested in camping chic, a headscarf in the woods is a freaking godsend. Not only a playful accessory, it also kept mosquitos out of my ears and sweat out of my eyes. Thank you, dear headscarf!
Shorts and necklace: Thrifted
Shoes and belt: J. Crew
Bag: Orla Kiely
Maybe you couldn’t tell, but I’ve been on vacation this week. Not just a blogging vacation, mind you, but a real, live STAYcation in which I’m sleeping in, doing lots of yoga, reading, and cooking. Well, maybe not so much the cooking. Anyway, I have lots of outfits stored up to share with you all, but I’m not sure how quickly they’ll be shared–vacation does last through Labor Day, after all! But never fear, I’ll be dropping by now and again with an outfit post.
This outfit will go into my “favorites” pile. Very quickly are items being slotted into the “I LOVE THEM” or the “I’m going to toss them” categories, and these shorts paired with a button-up blouse is a surefire winner. Add some of my signature yellow (can you tell yet that I love yellow?) and my prized Orla Kiely bag (one of the few truly designer items I own), and I’m in love.
Today’s lesson learned: Never apologize for a well-earned vacation. And I won’t! 🙂
